Tiger attacks kill two women in Chandrapur within days

Two women were killed in tiger attacks in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, within days of each other.

On October 16, 45-year-old Usha Gurunule was attacked while working beside a field near the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve buffer zone.

Her husband was nearby, arranging water for the crop, but could not stop the attack.

A few days later, Anganwadi worker Pramila Mahadore was attacked while harvesting sesame and vegetables with her husband in Bhendara village.

Forest officials sent both bodies for post-mortem examinations and said they were monitoring tiger activity.

The attacks have left nearby residents afraid to work in fields, especially those close to forest areas.

Villagers want more patrols and steps to protect farmers, and forest department action is now in focus.
