Daejeon taxi fares to rise from November 1

Daejeon will raise taxi fares from November 1, the city said.

The standard taxi starting fare will rise from 4,300 won to 4,800 won, covering the first 1.8 kilometres.

Distance and time charges will also increase for standard taxis, with 100 won charged every 125 metres instead of every 132 metres, and every 29 seconds instead of every 33 seconds.

For premium and large taxis, the starting fare will go from 5,500 won to 6,000 won, while distance and time charges stay the same.

The average increase is 11.4% for standard fares; premium and large taxi fares will rise by 2.8%.

The last increase to Daejeon's basic taxi fare was in July 2023, and the city says higher operating costs and the taxi industry's business conditions informed the change.

The city says it will work with the taxi industry to improve service, including making rides safer and more courteous.
