Pink Floyd to release Animals 50th-anniversary box set with rare tracks

Pink Floyd is marking 50 years of Animals with a box set due out on Jan.

22.

The album was released in January 1977, between Wish You Were Here and The Wall.

Animals is a concept album about bleak life in late-1970s Britain, inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm and the rise of punk.

Its most expansive edition will include the original album, its 2018 remix, five rarities and a recording of a 1977 Oakland concert.

The rarities include the previously unreleased song “Young Nicholas Jon” by Roger Waters.

A radio edit of one 10-minute song, shortened to four and a half minutes, is now available and had not been commercially released before.

The box set also includes a 64-page book with writing, an interview and material about the album cover.
