Man from Houten seriously injured in assault in Maastricht

A 36-year-old man from Houten was seriously injured in an assault in Maastricht.

It happened on the Markt between 3:00 and 3:15 a.m.

on Sunday.

Police say three or four men may have been involved, based on initial witness conversations.

Emergency workers took the man to hospital, and police found no suspects at the scene.

No one has been arrested, and investigators do not yet know exactly what happened.

Police are seeking witnesses, video and information from anyone involved to help establish what took place.
