Police Raid Two Illegal Drug Factories in Indonesia, Arrest 16

Police in Indonesia raided two illegal drug factories in Sukoharjo in Central Java on October 15.

The factories made tramadol and trihexyphenidyl, medicines that were being produced illegally.

The investigation began after customs officials found 650,000 tramadol pills in a shipment in North Jakarta on October 7.

Police arrested 16 people, including workers and alleged factory operators, and seized more than 7.8 million finished pills.

Investigators say one factory had operated since 2025 and the other since July 2026; one was estimated to produce about 1.7 million pills a day.

The case matters because the drugs were being made for illegal distribution, and police say they are still tracing the supply chain and money.

Two alleged factory owners remain at large, while investigators continue looking into who supplied the ingredients and controlled distribution.
