Transsion’s Hong Kong share offer draws about 14,000 applications

Shenzhen Transsion Holdings, a phone maker whose products are best-selling in Africa, has completed bookbuilding for a HK$3.36 billion share offering in Hong Kong.

The offering received about 14,000 applications and was oversubscribed roughly 3.5 times.

That means applications for shares were about three and a half times the number available.

The response adds to concerns about demand for new listings in Hong Kong in the fourth quarter.

Retail participation in initial public offerings has fallen sharply since September.

In September, only two of 12 listings attracted more than 100,000 retail applicants, compared with 11 of 19 listings in July and August.

The offering has closed, and no further steps are specified.
