Dutch advisory body urges withdrawal of planned Box 3 tax overhaul
The Council of State urged the Dutch government to withdraw its Box 3 tax bill.
The plan would introduce a capital gains tax from 2028 as part of a broader overhaul of Box 3.
The Council advised continuing the current system, which lets taxpayers provide evidence to challenge their tax assessment, until 2030.
It then recommended replacing the system in one step.
A projected €18 billion budget gap and a VVD veto are also holding up a solution and the tax plan.
The government has not yet responded to the criticism.
