Manly offers Tom Trbojevic a two-year contract

Manly has offered Tom Trbojevic a two-year contract to keep the captain at the Sea Eagles beyond his current deal.

The club hopes an offer worth about $1.75 million will take the Australian fullback off the market.

Trbojevic is one of 11 Kangaroos players whose contracts have expired, as Australia prepares to face Samoa in a World Cup semi-final.

He has said he wants to finish his career at Manly, and the club says the offer reflects his importance while taking account of games missed through injury.

The deal would give both sides greater certainty about his future.

Manly has also offered Lehi Hopoate a two-year extension; the 21-year-old is playing fullback for Tonga and is among the club's options for the position after Trbojevic retires.

Manly is also negotiating with forward Caleb Navale, but is not expected to make major moves in the player market unless it can move contracted players.
