Putin meets Iran's security chief as efforts to end war continue
Russian President Vladimir Putin met Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei in Moscow on Thursday as efforts to end the war on Iran continued.
Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, delivered a letter from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, but its contents were not disclosed.
The talks covered regional security and ways to end the fighting, and Rezaei said Putin had offered Russia's help.
The meeting comes amid diplomatic efforts over the war, including disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions and Iran's nuclear programme.
Rezaei said Iran would not negotiate with the United States or reopen the strait until Washington meets seven demands; he did not detail them.
The officials also discussed a proposed gas pipeline between Russia and Iran, which Rezaei said could help address Iran's gas shortages and allow Russia to sell gas to neighbouring countries.
