Strava adds route search and offline features for outdoor activities

Strava is rolling out new tools for finding and using routes for runs, walks, hikes and rides.

The exercise-tracking platform says users can search in its Maps tab for route names or places, using everyday wording.

Expanded route choices and redesigned cards will help users compare routes using photos and activity data from Strava users.

Saved routes will be available offline on the home screen, and users can record and save a workout without a signal.

The workout will upload when the device reconnects.

Subscribers will soon get turn-by-turn audio directions, while route pages are also due to gain community tags and descriptions, and route discovery will come to the web.
