Two People Injured in Armed Robbery at Jember Gold Shop

Two masked attackers robbed Toko Emas Murni in Jember, Indonesia, on Thursday morning.

The shop’s owner and her son were wounded with a sharp weapon and taken to hospital for treatment.

The attackers took a bag; one account says it contained foreign currency, but the total loss has not been confirmed.

Witnesses said the men fled in a white car, which reportedly nearly hit a group of children near Jember’s town square.

Police are pursuing the suspects and have examined the scene and spoken to witnesses.

The shop was also robbed in 2022, when gold jewelry and cash were taken.

The suspects had not been reported caught, and police said they would provide updates as the case develops.

It happened around 7:30. I had just opened my shop, then two masked men got out of a car, went straight to the victims and slashed them.

I thought, what is happening, why is a car suddenly leaving and is there the sound of something being knocked over? I went straight to the scene. It turned out two people had been slashed. One was in front of the door, the other inside the shop.

I was inside the shop. What I know is that there were two victims, the shop owner’s child and his mother. I don’t know the details because I ran with a friend to save myself and ask residents for help.
