Indonesia Deputy Minister Urges Student Group to Support Education and Social Solidarity

Indonesia’s deputy social affairs minister, Agus Jabo Priyono, urged members of the Muhammadiyah Student Association in Magelang to strengthen solidarity and represent students’ needs.

He spoke at the opening of the association’s 20th regional meeting in Magelang Regency on Friday.

He called on students to help poor families and children who lack access to education, including those at risk of leaving school because of financial hardship.

Students can identify problems in their communities, share information with relevant officials and connect families with government services.

Agus encouraged cooperation with government and local social groups to find people in need and link them to support.

He also said the student movement should build young people’s integrity, social concern and sense of responsibility to the country.

The regional meeting is intended to strengthen the group’s direction so its work better reflects the needs of students and the wider community.

Whatever the community’s problems are, you must understand them and be able to solve them. If they need to be addressed together with the government, communicate with the government.
