Hoseo University joins South Korean low-power AI chip research project
Hoseo University has joined a South Korean national project to develop very low-power AI chips that can adapt to conditions where they are used.
The project is led by chip design company Jaram Technology, with Hoseo, Korea University and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute as research partners.
The chips are intended for edge learning, where AI can learn and update on a device rather than relying only on remote computing.
Hoseo will develop a global certification framework to check the chips’ performance and safety.
Its tests will cover AI model updates, blocking unusual data and recovering from errors.
The partners aim to improve trust and compatibility for South Korean-made AI chips in global markets.
The project is managed by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology under South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Hoseo University will join a South Korean government research project to develop ultra-low-power AI semiconductors for edge learning.
The project is led by semiconductor design company Zaram Technology, with Hoseo University, Korea University and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute as joint research institutions.
Hoseo University will help establish a global certification system to test the chips’ performance and safety.
The university said the work will assess AI model training and updates, blocking abnormal data and error recovery.
