Adnan Dalgakıran elected head of Istanbul Chamber of Industry

Adnan Dalgakıran was elected president of Istanbul’s Chamber of Industry after receiving 86 votes, compared with 67 for Ender Yılmaz.

The chamber has about 22,000 members and is described as Turkey’s largest industrial chamber.

Mustafa Tecdelioğlu was separately elected chair of the chamber’s assembly with 83 votes.

Dalgakıran says industry groups must work together with companies, universities, decision-makers and sector associations to compete in changing world markets.

He argues that short workshops cannot solve the country’s industrial problems or set a lasting direction.

The chamber plans to build an industry strategy over several months, using a method based on data.

Dalgakıran says it will redesign the chamber’s organization to track global change and share the results of its work with members and the media.
