Hurricane Simón was moving parallel to Mexico’s Pacific coast on Oct.

11, near the states of Jalisco and Colima.

At 3 p.m., it was reported as a Category 4 hurricane, but by 6 p.m.

it had weakened to Category 3.

The later update placed its center 80 kilometres south of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, with winds of up to 205 kilometres per hour.

The storm was bringing exceptional rainfall to parts of Jalisco, torrential rain to Colima, and heavy rain to areas of Nayarit, Michoacán and Sinaloa.
