Japan lists Android phones that support its digital My Number Card

Japan's Digital Agency has published a list of Android phones that support the digital My Number Card.

The service lets users add their My Number Card to Google Wallet and use their phone for some identity checks.

From October 20, a new attribute-verification feature will let users prove details such as their name, address, date of birth and photo.

It can be used for in-person checks, including when opening a bank account or verifying age.

Only some supported phones can use the new feature, because they must meet security requirements.

The broader phone list includes models from several brands, but some phones sold outside Japan may not work.

Users need Android 12 or later and the latest security update, and can check the agency's list to see which features their phone supports.
