Journalist Toni Capuozzo says he has cancer

Italian journalist and longtime war correspondent Toni Capuozzo has said he has cancer in a message on social media.

He said he had kept his health private but decided to speak openly to avoid gossip and speculation.

Capuozzo plans to face the illness with help from doctors and support from people close to him.

He has not shared details about the type of cancer or his treatment.

His message also referred to Alla Tcheranovskaya, a translator who died from carbon monoxide poisoning in December 2025 in the building where Capuozzo lives.

Luca Zaia sent him a message of support, recalling their conversation on Zaia’s podcast, “Il Fienile.”
