Two Australian digital media founders buy homes in Sydney

Cheek Media founder Hannah Ferguson bought a one-bedroom apartment in Sydney’s Grayndler electorate for $775,000, settling in late May with her partner.

The Daily Aus co-founder Zara Seidler bought a four-bedroom Bondi home with her husband for $4.1 million, settling in August.

Both women lead social media-focused news businesses, but the financial success of these new media outlets remains unclear.

The Daily Aus has more than 657,000 Instagram followers, while Cheek Media has about 264,000 and Ferguson has 160,000.

Ferguson has said she plans to step back from Cheek next year to campaign for the seat of Grayndler, held by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The purchases show the founders have entered Sydney’s property market, but they do not establish how profitable their businesses are.
