Italy shifts public building earthquake funds to 2029 and 2030
Italy’s budget bill cuts seismic prevention funding for public buildings in 2027 and 2028.
The annual allocations fall from €60 million to €30 million in each of those years.
The €60 million difference is shifted to 2029 and 2030, with €30 million allocated for each year.
The change does not reduce the fund’s total amount; it spreads the funding over a longer period.
The fund’s allocation plan must be updated by March 31, 2027.
Separately, L’Aquila will receive an extra €5 million a year from 2027 to 2029 for administrative needs linked to the 2009 earthquake, while about €3 million is set aside for reconstruction staff continuity in 2027.

Annual allocations fall from €60 million to €30 million in both 2027 and 2028.
The fund will receive €30 million a year in 2029 and 2030, leaving its total allocation unchanged.
