Como beat Manchester United 4-1 in Champions League

Como beat Manchester United 4-1 in the Champions League in Italy.

The result was a major upset because Como were playing in Europe’s top club competition for the first time.

Como took the lead through Nico Paz’s curling shot within two minutes, then Tasos Douvikas scored early in the second half.

United struggled to keep the ball and create chances, and two half-time substitutions did not turn the game around.

The defeat has put manager Michael Carrick’s job at risk, after another poor performance from his side.

Cesc Fabregas, Como’s manager and a name linked with replacing Carrick, led the winning team.

The sources do not say what United will do next about Carrick.

He shouldn't have dived in. [Santos] should have stayed on his feet. It was a bit of a risk.

Stephen WarnockFormer Liverpool defender
United have been far too passive in this first half-hour, putting no pressure on the ball when Como have it, and also lacking composure when they do get possession.
