Iñaki Williams says agent’s comments on Nico were poorly timed

Iñaki Williams criticised the timing and manner of agent Félix Tainta’s comments about his brother Nico.

Tainta had said Nico considered leaving Athletic Bilbao for Barcelona in the summers of 2024 and 2025.

The comments became public while Nico was recovering from a muscle injury sustained while playing for Spain.

Iñaki said the family had already discussed the matter with Tainta, whom they regard as a father figure.

He said Nico has chosen to stay at Athletic and wants to fulfil his contract.

Iñaki hopes his brother will remain at the club for years and answer doubts through his performances.

He said Nico was focused on recovering and returning to the field.
