Liverpool to host Bournemouth in Carabao Cup quarterfinals

Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties to reach the Carabao Cup quarterfinals after their match ended 1-1.

They will host Bournemouth at Anfield in the quarterfinals during the week beginning December 14.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola used to coach Bournemouth, and said it was the one team he did not want to draw.

He called the matchup special but said Liverpool must earn a place in the semifinals against a Bournemouth side in good form.

Liverpool also beat Tottenham earlier in the competition, while Chelsea are now out.

The other quarterfinal ties include Manchester City against Bradford and Crystal Palace against Sunderland; Fleetwood Town will face Everton or Newcastle.

Liverpool reached last season’s final but lost to Newcastle, and the December tie will decide who advances to this season’s semifinals.
