Indonesia allocates Rp125 billion to tackle fires in Jambi

President Prabowo allocated Rp125 billion to help tackle forest and land fires in Jambi province, Indonesia.

The funds were distributed in two rounds to Jambi province and eight districts, according to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni.

They can pay for fire-response needs, including equipment, and may support preparedness measures if fires ease.

Preparedness work could include building bore wells ahead of the next fire season and meeting residents’ health needs.

The minister asked local governments to use the money transparently and coordinate with law enforcement from the start.

The funding adds to other national response efforts, including helicopters, weather-modification operations and ground teams.

The minister also urged residents not to burn forests or land.
