Shruti Haasan says Kamal Haasan taught her to question gender rules

Actor Shruti Haasan says her father, Kamal Haasan, helped shape her views on equality.

In a conversation with Twinkle Khanna for Tweak India, she called him her biggest ally since childhood.

She jokes that she is his “Frankenstein’s monster” because his influence helped make her who she is.

She said he challenged traditional rules for women at home and more broadly.

Shruti also described her mother, Sarika, as an example of an independent woman.

She said Kamal does not always praise her, describing him as a typical Indian dad who is unimpressed with her.

The conversation also revealed that Kamal is a fan of Twinkle Khanna’s writing.
