Eli Lilly Raises 2026 Sales Outlook as More People Buy Obesity Drugs

Eli Lilly’s sales rose 39% in July-September 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier.

The company makes Mounjaro, an obesity drug, and raised its full-year sales outlook by about $10 billion from the start of the year.

CEO David Ricks said the company had not anticipated the size of two sources of demand: US public insurance and overseas buyers paying themselves.

Overseas demand came from more than the very wealthy, with middle-income households also buying the drugs.

That challenges the view that high-priced obesity drugs are affordable only to a small group of rich people.

The broader pool of buyers helped drive the higher outlook, although the company said it had struggled to predict how large that market would be.
