Turkey sets new energy and USB-C rules for chargers and cables
Turkey’s Industry and Technology Ministry has introduced new rules for chargers, power banks and USB-C cables.
The regulation replaces rules that have been in force since 2020 and covers energy performance, technical standards and product checks.
Most of the new requirements will apply from December 14, 2028.
The rules set limits on power use when chargers and wireless charging pads are idle, and require efficiency standards for some power supplies.
Many products will need USB-C or USB Power Delivery connections, while USB-C cables must show whether they support 60W or 240W.
The changes aim to make covered products more energy-efficient and work with common charging standards.
Manufacturers must publish technical product information online for at least 10 years after the last unit of a model is placed on the market.
The ministry will check whether products meet their declared specifications, and may require extra tests if it finds a product does not comply.
