Nicolas Cage says Malibu home damaged by sinkhole is unsafe to live in
Nicolas Cage says his Malibu home is unsafe to live in after severe coastal erosion and heavy rain caused it to sink in September.
The damage opened a large hole where the driveway had been and swallowed parts of the garage and nearby structures.
Seven homes on his street were marked unsafe, and neighbors had to be evacuated.
Cage said at Los Angeles Comic Con that he is staying in hotels and described himself as “a little bit homeless.”
He has filed three permits since the damage, including permission to place sandbags for protection against waves and further erosion.
Cage is working to save the house, but the property is not currently safe to occupy.
