South Korean man sentenced to one year for revenge driving and drunk driving

A South Korean court sentenced a 25-year-old man to one year in prison for revenge driving, obstructing an alcohol test and driving drunk.

The incident began in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, in March, when the man said another driver had stared at him.

He chased the other driver, made dangerous lane changes and then braked sharply, causing a crash.

After police arrived, he drank soju to interfere with the alcohol test, saying he had started drinking because he was angry.

Once the crash scene was cleared, he drove again with a blood alcohol level of 0.178 percent and was caught.

The judge said the offences were serious and showed little respect for the law, but also considered that he admitted what he had done and reached settlements with the victims.
