Uber wins dismissal of £340m claims by London cab drivers and firms
A High Court judge dismissed claims worth about £340m against Uber brought by thousands of London black cab drivers and two former private hire firms.
The claimants said Uber gave Transport for London misleading information when it first received a licence to operate in London in 2012.
About 13,000 drivers sought nearly £200m, while the firms’ claim was about £140m.
Uber argued the claims, filed in 2024, came after the six-year legal limit for bringing them.
The judge said the claimants could have discovered the alleged deception before 2018, and dismissed the cases without deciding whether the allegations were true.
The ruling ends these claims for now, though the group managing them said it was considering its options with its legal team.
Uber also faces a separate tax dispute worth more than £1bn with HM Revenue and Customs next week.
