Colby Donovan signs five-year contract extension with Celtic

Celtic defender Colby Donovan has signed a new deal until 2031.

The 20-year-old right-back has made 15 starts this season for the Scottish champions.

He stepped into the team as cover for injured first-choice Alistair Johnston, who has had recurring hamstring problems.

Donovan came through Celtic’s academy and made his first-team debut in August 2025.

His strong form earned him his first Scotland call-up in September, though he did not play in the four Nations League matches.

Manager Martin O’Neill praised Donovan’s attitude and said he expects him to have a big future in the game.

Donovan says he plans to keep improving at Celtic, where he has committed his long-term future.
