Driver charged after travelling on Highway 11 with hood covering windshield

Ontario Provincial Police stopped a car travelling south on Highway 11 near Allensville Road after seeing its open hood cover the windshield.

The vehicle was moving well below the speed limit, and officers directed it onto the shoulder.

The driver, a 38-year-old woman from West Nipissing, faces six charges, including dangerous operation, driving while suspended and driving with an obstructed windshield.

The charges also include failing to stop for police, having cannabis readily available in the vehicle and driving without insurance.

No one was injured, and one police vehicle sustained minor damage.

The case involves road safety because the driver was travelling on a highway without a clear view through the windshield.

She is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 17, 2026.
