Analyst Estimates Skydance’s Net Asset Value at $29 Billion
Media analyst Evan Shapiro estimates Skydance’s net asset value at $29 billion.
He says the company’s $81 billion in debt and its financial links to major shareholder Oracle weigh on its value.
Shapiro says Skydance and Oracle together carry $240 billion in debt.
His estimate is far below the $111 billion price paid for Warner Bros.
Discovery, as cited in his remarks.
Shapiro is presenting a new version of his Media Universe Map at MIPCOM in Cannes this week.
For the first time, the map is interactive, letting users explore and compare media and technology companies across different years.
It is intended to show how ownership and influence in media have shifted toward consumers and technology companies.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
No one in their right mind would buy the $81B in debt they are carrying and no one who isn’t high as a kite would buy Skydance for the $111B price that was just paid for WBD.
One of the biggest reasons for that is that the fortunes of Skydance and Oracle are now intrinsically intertwined, and combined they have $240B of debt, a good portion of which is either junk or a millimeter above junk.
The biggest change in the Media Universe since I started mapping it is the shift from an industry controlled by C-suites to an ecosystem controlled by the consumers.
