Titanium Sands raises $500,000 for Sri Lankan mineral sands project

Titanium Sands raised $500,000 from Gage Resource Development for its mineral sands project on Mannar Island in north-west Sri Lanka.

Gage received 62.5 million shares and first rights to match or better third-party offers for development funding and offtake.

Offtake agreements set terms for buying and selling a project’s future mineral output.

Titanium Sands is seeking an industrial mining licence, and environmental consultants expect a draft assessment to be ready for review in November.

The company plans to submit the assessment for approval shortly afterwards as it advances the licensing process.

The project could produce minerals used mainly to make titanium dioxide pigment for paints, plastics and paper, so funding and approvals are key steps toward development.

As the process approaches the issue of an industrial mining licence for the project, the first right to capex and offtake underpins the future of the project and provides the financial strength to develop the asset quickly and without delay once approvals are received.

The initial investment by Gage at a premium indicates the support they hold for the company and project, and it is well received by the Board.
