Chelsea host Manchester United as Carrick faces pressure

Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in London on Saturday in a Premier League match.

Chelsea are fifth with 13 points, while United are 16th with seven points after eight league games.

United have gone eight games without a win in all competitions, and the club has kept manager Michael Carrick in his job for now.

A win at Chelsea could help Carrick stave off dismissal, though his position remains uncertain.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was dropped for United’s last game after criticising Carrick’s tactics, but Carrick says he remains captain and the two have spoken.

United beat Chelsea in both league matches last season, so Chelsea will be seeking a response.

The result could shape Carrick’s immediate future, but no decision on his job after the match has been announced.
