Nine readers win first Gounsumgyeol Literary Prize
Nine readers won the inaugural Gounsumgyeol Literary Prize for reviews of a novel by South Korean writer Jin Seong-rim.
The contest received 204 entries from across South Korea, and judges chose nine winners after two rounds of evaluation.
The book chosen for the contest was Jin’s novel *And Again, Us*.
Jin is a respiratory medicine specialist as well as a novelist, and he did not take part in judging or selecting the winners.
Judges assessed how well each review interpreted the novel and reflected honestly on the writer’s own life.
The top prize went to Park Hyun-joo for a review praised for understanding past relationships from another person’s perspective.
The ceremony took place in Seoul on October 28, and Jin said readers’ reviews had helped him see his novel in a new way.
