The Strokes Perform Two Songs From Reality Awaits on SNL

The Strokes performed on Saturday Night Live, marking their fifth appearance on the show.

The New York band played two songs from their latest album, Reality Awaits: “Lonely in the Future” and “Going Shopping.”

Actor Walton Goggins, who appeared in the “Going Shopping” music video, joined the band on bongos for that performance.

Guitarist Nick Valensi was absent; he has taken a temporary break from the band, and Steve Schiltz has filled in on tour.

The performance also featured a Palestinian flag on the drum kit, alongside elaborate lighting and visual effects.

The band is touring behind the album, with stops in Mexico, South America and Australia planned in the coming months.

I don’t think if I told you what it looked like and what it was, you’d fully understand the ‘magical-ness’ of where we were and how it was to record like that.
