Bank Indonesia plans payment upgrades to support growth and jobs

Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti says the central bank will strengthen Indonesia’s payment system.

Its plans include developing QRIS, a national QR payment standard, retail credit cards and QR payments across national borders.

The aim is to make financial transactions easier and more inclusive.

The bank also says it will coordinate with the government to support economic stability and sustainable growth while remaining independent.

Its policies are intended to encourage job creation and reach small and medium-sized businesses.

The statements describe the bank’s commitments, but do not set out a timetable for the next steps.
