Three arrested after shooting investigation uncovers drug factory in Istanbul

A shooting in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district led police to a drug-making operation after two men were fired at on November 2.

The men told police they had no known dispute with anyone and did not know why they were targeted.

Police identified two suspects in connection with the shooting and arrested them, then found a third suspect at a house in Örnektepe.

Inside the house, police found 135 kilograms of pregabalin and 40,000 pills, along with empty capsules, boxes and pill-making equipment.

Police said a woman was filling capsules with drug ingredients to make synthetic medicine.

A court jailed all three suspects, who face charges including drug production and trafficking; the two men linked to the shooting also face charges related to endangering public safety and attempted injury.

The suspects are now in prison, and the report gives no further details about what happens next.
