Apple warns iPhone Duo walk-in buyers may find no launch-day stock

Apple warns iPhone Duo walk-in buyers may find no launch-day stock

Apple staff have been told to warn against buying an iPhone Duo without a pre-order on launch day, Friday, October 23.

The warning concerns Apple Stores, where employees say there will likely be no stock for customers who walk in.

The guidance may not apply to every store or country, and Apple has not publicly confirmed whether any stores will offer launch-day walk-in purchases.

The iPhone Duo is Apple's new foldable phone, starting at $1,999 in the United States.

Limited production and strong demand have left supply very tight: delivery estimates for all U.S. configurations moved to January shortly after pre-orders opened.

This means people hoping to buy one soon may not be able to avoid the long online wait by visiting a store.

Apple says it is working to get devices to customers quickly, and its website asks customers to check for pickup availability on October 24, though that does not guarantee stock.
