NSE second-quarter profit rises 23% to ₹2,578 crore

India’s National Stock Exchange reported a 23% rise in second-quarter profit to ₹2,578 crore for July to September 2026, its first quarterly results since listing.

Operating revenue grew 10.6% from a year earlier to ₹4,066.8 crore, with transaction charges bringing in the largest share.

But compared with the previous quarter, profit fell 17.4% and transaction-charge revenue dropped 16%, to ₹3,035 crore.

Higher trading activity in cash markets and equity options supported the annual growth in transaction-charge revenue.

The exchange said upcoming changes to the closing auction session, due to take effect on December 7, and possible securities-lending rule changes could support cash-market activity.

NSE is also awaiting regulatory approval for a corporate bond index, which it says could add a product for fixed-income investors.

In terms of cash market activity, we look forward to reforms on securities lending and borrowing, which are being worked out by the working group of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). That could be exciting for market participants and that could expand the cash market. We are also looking at the new amendments to the CAS regime that go live in December. That can help investors trade more,
