Power outages hit parts of Russia’s Kaliningrad region

A power outage affected Kaliningrad and nearby towns overnight on Oct.

30–31.

It disrupted electricity in several districts of Kaliningrad and settlements including Guryevsk, Svetlogorsk and Gvardeysk.

Regional authorities said emergency protection equipment shut down part of Kaliningrad CHP-2.

The plant supplies about 47% of the region’s installed power-generating capacity, and Kaliningrad’s energy system has operated in isolation since February 2025.

The outage’s scale was not specified, and mobile internet disruptions were also reported.

Officials said the load was shifted to other power stations and consumers were being reconnected.

The incident occurred amid separate drone alerts and reports of explosions in Ufa, but no connection between the incidents was confirmed.
