Doosan Enerbility and LIG D&A agree to develop guided-weapon engines

Doosan Enerbility and LIG D&A have agreed to develop engines for next-generation guided weapons in South Korea.

Under the agreement, LIG D&A will develop the weapon systems, while Doosan will develop their engines.

The companies will work together on engine development, testing, evaluation and certification.

Demand for long-range precision weapons is growing in the global defense market, making advanced engines an important capability.

Developing the engines domestically could reduce reliance on foreign technology and help address limits on exports.

The companies say they aim to combine their expertise to compete in future defense markets.
