LG Energy Solution shares rise after stronger-than-expected quarterly results

LG Energy Solution shares rose for a second trading day on Oct.

12, trading 2.12% higher in the morning.

The South Korean battery maker had also gained 2.56% in the previous session.

It reported that third-quarter operating profit increased 25.7% from a year earlier, while sales rose 59% to 9.6434 trillion won.

Operating profit was 131.6% above the average analyst estimate.

The company said the results were provisional.

An analyst said increased energy storage system orders helped lift factory use from the third quarter and expected the company to remain profitable in the fourth quarter, excluding a US manufacturing tax credit.

The strong results matter because they suggest the company’s earnings are improving, and investors responded by buying its shares.
