Explosion in South Tangerang Kills Two and Injures About 11

An explosion near Cimanggis Market in Ciputat, South Tangerang, killed two people and injured about 11.

The injured were treated at three health facilities in South Tangerang.

Police say the blast was not caused by a bomb, but its cause is still unknown.

Investigators found a 52-kilogram ethylene cylinder at the site, along with other cylinders nearby, but have not established whether they were linked to the explosion.

The damaged shop-house area was used to pack fruit for distribution, and four blocks of two-storey shops were damaged.

Forensic teams are continuing their site examination, and police plan to question five witnesses about activity before the blast.

Their findings are expected to help establish what caused the explosion.
