Boca cannot clinch Argentina’s annual title in the next round

Boca Juniors remain top of Argentina’s annual table with 57 points after 14 rounds of the Clausura.

The table combines points from the Apertura and Clausura tournaments.

A win over River would take Boca to 60 points, but Argentinos Juniors could also reach that total by beating Atlético Tucumán.

Rosario Central and Vélez are also in contention, with 56 and 55 points respectively.

Boca cannot clinch the title in the next round, whatever the results.

Wins and losses elsewhere could leave Boca virtually champions if Boca beat River, Argentinos lose, Rosario Central do not win and Vélez do not win.

If teams finish level on points, goal difference decides the title, and Boca currently lead their closest rivals on that measure.
