Germany's U16 girls win inaugural handball world title

Germany's U16 girls' handball team won the first world title in its age group in Agadir, Morocco.

The team beat Hungary 37-32 in the final, after leading 17-15 at half-time.

Captain Romy Sieber scored eight goals, the most for Germany.

The victory continues a run of recent titles for German youth handball teams, including the U20 girls' world championship in 2026.

Germany's senior women's and men's teams won silver at their respective major tournaments in 2025 and 2026.

The next chance for a senior German team to win a title comes at the women's European Championship in December.
