‘Police Squad!’ Is Now Streaming on Netflix in the US

Netflix has added Police Squad!

to its US streaming lineup, making the 1980s comedy series available to viewers there.

The show follows detective Frank Drebin, played by Leslie Nielsen, and his team as they investigate crimes.

Its creators, David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker, also worked on Airplane!, and the series uses rapid jokes and visual gags.

ABC canceled the sitcom after four episodes, though two more aired after the cancellation was announced.

The show later became the basis for The Naked Gun film franchise, with Nielsen reprising his role in the 1988 movie and two sequels.

A new film, The Naked Gun, introduced Frank Drebin Jr. in 2025, with Liam Neeson in the role.

The Netflix addition gives US viewers a chance to watch the series that began the franchise.
