Argentino de Merlo president demands answers from Argentina's football leadership
Martín Brieva, president of Argentino de Merlo, questioned Argentina’s football leadership in WhatsApp posts.
He asked the AFA, the country’s football governing body, about published information on payments for yachts and private flights, including who approved them and how they were paid.
Brieva said the AFA should explain the payments if the information was correct.
His comments came amid a dispute between the AFA and River Plate, with Argentino de Merlo taking River’s side.
He urged other club presidents to demand clear answers and called for rules that apply equally to all clubs.
Brieva also said club leaders should be able to ask questions without being treated as opponents.
No response from the AFA or next steps are given.

What people are saying
If everything has an explanation, I imagine it will not be difficult for the AFA to provide it. Is the information published about payments for yachts and private flights correct? If it is, what institutional purpose did they serve? Who authorized them? And with what funds were they paid?
Asking respectfully deserves an answer with the same respect.
Beyond the irony, it is time for us leaders to stop looking the other way.
It is time for us to have clear rules, equal for everyone, that guarantee transparency and prevent unnecessary controversies.
