Hanwha Asset Management invests in US space company Impulse Space

Hanwha Asset Management and four South Korean institutions invested in Impulse Space in the US through a project fund.

The investment was in the company’s Series D1 funding round, and Hanwha has backed it in four rounds since Series B.

Impulse Space was founded in 2021 by Tom Mueller, a SpaceX founding member and former chief technology officer.

It is developing vehicles to carry satellites and cargo from their initial orbit to their intended orbit.

Its Mira vehicle has completed three missions, and the company is also developing Helios for direct delivery to geostationary orbit.

The investment gives South Korean institutions a route into a global space company through Hanwha’s project fund.

Hanwha plans to expand joint investment opportunities with domestic institutions and continue connecting investors and industry with overseas technology companies.
