Busan court gives suspended sentences to brothers who assaulted taxi driver

A Busan court sentenced two brothers in their 60s for assaulting a taxi driver.

The incident happened on December 25 last year, while the taxi was travelling in Busan.

The brothers complained that the driver was not taking the route they wanted.

The younger brother hit the 79-year-old driver twice on the head, while the older brother grabbed and touched the driver.

The driver suffered facial bruising and other injuries that required two weeks to heal.

The court said violence against a driver in a moving car can cause serious accidents and harm others, but considered that the brothers admitted what they did, reached an agreement with the driver and that he did not seek punishment.

The brothers received suspended prison sentences, so the court did not order them to serve the terms immediately.
